MESSAGE FROM THE PATRON AND PRESIDENT OF
PERWAKILAN WASHINGTON DC.
Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera.
1. As the Patron and President of PERWAKILAN Washington DC, I would like to convey my greetings to the members and to take this opportunity to congratulate them for their efforts and initiative in organizing events and activities that have enabled the fostering of ties and close relationship among the Malaysian community and with the host country the United States of America.
2. Past events and activities which included educational programs, social, cultural and welfare activities have not only been able to nurture a feeling of closeness among PERWAKILAN members but have also provided an opportunity for PERWAKILAN ladies to showcase their ability, creativity and commitment in offering the best that Malaysia has to offer to both the international and host community.
3. I am proud of and grateful to the members of PERWAKILAN Washington DC who have worked hard towards the planning of activities for 2007. In this regard, I would like to encourage PERWAKILAN members to expand their networking not only among PERWAKILAN ladies but also with the diplomatic, local and international communities so as to allow for the active and continuous exchange of ideas and experience. Exchanging of ideas and experience will further lead to the enhancement and enrichment of PERWAKILAN’s own events and activities.
4. This year has been designated as “Visit Malaysia Year 2007”. In addition, Malaysia is also celebrating its 50th anniversary of independence and the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Malaysia and the United States of America. In this regard, many activities have been planned to commemorate these important events and PERWAKILAN Washington DC can play an important role in promoting Malaysia in the United States and in participating in events organized by the Embassy of Malaysia.
5. Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank every PERWAKILAN member for their support and commitment towards contributing towards the success of PERWAKILAN Washington DC. Indeed, they have devoted their valuable time and effort towards achieving the objectives of the organization. As a lady Ambassador, I am confident that I can count upon the support of the ladies of PERWAKILAN Washington DC in promoting our beloved country Malaysia to the Americans and to the international community in Washington DC.
