MALAYSIA INDEPENDENCE DAY
 
The 50th years of Malaysia Independence Day celebration was held on September 6th, 2007. The concept of stall was introduced on that day. There were ‘Satay Stall’, ‘Ice-Blended Teh Tarik Stall’ and all variety of Malaysian ‘kuih-muih’. The PERWAKILAN ladies have assisted in the success of the celebration ceremony.
 
 
 
MALAYSIA: TRULY ASIAN KITCHEN
 
This event was held on July 19th, 2007. In this event, Malaysia has introduced variety of cuisines with the ‘Pasar Malam’ (Night Market) concept as it motto of the day was ‘Visit Malaysia Year 2007’. The culture shows of the multi-racial Malaysians have been put forward including the presentation from the members of the PERWAKILAN Washington DC. Among the shows laid out was ‘Joget Bunga Melati, ‘Tarian Endang’ and ‘Joget Sekampung’.
 
 
 
NEW YORK/WASHINGTON DC GAMES
 
The Embassy Club of Washington DC was the host for NY/WDC Games 2007. Golf and Bowling competition was held whereby the NY team has won the Golf competition and WDC has won the bowling competition. During the dinner on June 6th, 2007 PERWAKILAN ladies performed 60’s twist dance ‘Bila Larut Malam’.
 
 
 
YANG DIPERTUAN AGONG BIRTHDAY
 
On June 2nd, 2007 the celebration of the Yang Dipertuan Agong was held at the Embassy of Malaysia. HE Datuk Dr Rajmah Hussain has urged all Malaysians in United States to be loyal to the King and country. In the event the PERWAKILAN ladies performed a patriotic choir.
 
 
 
FULLBRIGHT ANNUAL SPRING RECEPTION
 
On April 27th, 2007 Fullbright Annual Spring Reception, Dinner and Cultural program was held at the Embassy of Malaysia. Video on ‘Malaysia: The Heart of Southeast Asia’ has been presented upon the audience and followed by the culture shows by the PERWAKILAN ladies.

MESSAGE FROM AMBASSADOR

Assalamualaikum dan salam sejahtera
I wish to congratulate the PERWAKILAN of Washington DC for their efforts and initiative in organizing events and activities that has enabled the fostering of ties and close relationship between the Malaysian community and also the host community in Washington D.C.
 
Past events and activities included educational programs, social, cultural and welfare activities such as Hari Raya celebration, National Day celebration, Maal Hijrah celebration. These programs have not only been able to nurture a feeling of closeness among members but it has also been able to provide an opportunity for members to showcase their ability, creativity and commitment in offering the best that Malaysia has to offer to both the international and host community.
 
I am proud and thankful to the members of the PERWAKILAN who have been working hard towards the planning of activities for 2007. I would also encourage the PERWAKILAN members to expand their networking among other PERWAKILAN members to allow for exchange of ideas and experience. Exchanging of ideas and experience will certainly bring about a better and more variety of activities and events for the PERWAKILAN
 
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank every member of the PERWAKILAN who have devoted their valuable time, effort and devotion towards the successful planning and organizing of activities and events held. I sincerely hope that you will continue to provide your support and commitment towards making the PERWAKILAN’s activities for 2007 a successful one.

MESSAGE FROM WEBMASTER
This webpage is still under construction. Firstly, webmaster would like to elaborate briefly on the new look of our website. Perwakilan’s website consists of three major colors; blue, white and red. Colors have symbolism and meaning. Each of them represent who we are and explained to us that each individual is unique and colors may hold different meanings for us than for others, just as a piece of music inspires different feelings in different people. Hence in perwakilan washington d.c red symbolizes each members of perwakilan has energy, passion, strength, courage and creative in whatever they do. Meanwhile, in the aura of blue symbolizes the intellectual development, happiness and the power of persuasion in them.   In the aura of White shows the goodness, cleanliness, innocence, purity in each of perwakilan’s members. Meanwhile, Banner of the website consists of perwakilan’s logo, name of the association and picture of 5 women with 5 different traditional costumes that shows the malaysian tradition and culture.
 
Lastly, webmaster really hopes that all members could give feedback and comment on our new website through webmaster email below for improvement from time to time. And also please submit your articles for bulletin to be posted in the website as soon as possible. Thank you for your cooperation.
